The Purpose of Life

Try writing a first sentence, when you’ve given your post a title like “the purpose of life!”

Not to let you down, but I did not choose this title because of some insane wisdom I’m going to share here. Rather, this is the title of the roadtrip playlist Liam and I made for our 10 day Ireland road trip.

(10 points if you know what movie inspired that title)

I’m sitting on a plane (one of three for today), starting to draft blog posts for our adventure and s t r u g g l i n g to find the words to describe our experience. Granted, it may be because I’ve been flying all day or because I’ve slept in 7 different beds in the last 10 days or still because I woke up at 4:45 this morning. Your guess is as good as mine. However, I’m leaning towards having a block for words because of how genuinely indescribable the entire experience was.

Ireland is gorgeous. We spent a majority of our time on the west coast, exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, experiencing Galway, etc. After living in a desert for the last couple of years, the greenery completely took my breath away. And then the ocean! The country was wild and beautiful.

This is going to sound really quite dumb, but the only way I can think of describing the experience was that I felt like I was hopping into one of my Pinterest pins. In other words, it felt like I was hopping into a picturesque dream.

My goal is to do a brief blog post about each day.

Here’s a brief itinerary:

  • Day 1: Arrive in Dublin and drive to Glendalough. After Glendalough, drive to Kilkenny. (*Note: I was in fact, not driving. Liam is a brave soul)
  • Day 2: Explore the Rock of Cashel, and the abbey across the street. Drive to Cork.
  • Day 3: Stop in at Cobh and Barney Woollen Mills (it had to be done) before heading to Killarney.
  • Day 4: Ring of Kerry bus tour
  • Day 5: Explore the Muckross House gardens. Hike the Gap of Dunloe.
  • Day 6: Drive to Dingle. Drive the slea drive and explore.
  • Day 7: Drive to Galway, with a pit stop at the Cliffs of Moher. Stop in at a couple of famous Galway shops.
  • Day 8: Explore and experience Galway.
  • Day 9: Drive to Powerscourt, with a stop at the Rock of Dunamase. Explore Powerscourt gardens.
  • Day 10: Drive to Dublin. Explore downtown Dublin, including Trinity college and the Dublin castle.

In the meantime, enjoy some of our favorite photos from the trip.

Cheers,

A + L
